Peeing in the Park

Today Deedles and I went to the park after I picked her up from school.  I got some Thai take out food and we went to one of our favorite places.  Once there, she was far more interested in playing than eating.

As we were leaving she announced that she had to go potty. Now!  There is not a bathroom in sight.  Thankfully, no one was at the park but us, so right beside the van she took care of business – peeing, that is.

Not too long ago I probably would have rolled my eyes in disgust at the mother allowing her child to do such a thing. Now, I’m far more likely to pat the mother on the back and offer a wipey or tissue.  As a matter of fact, I could easily get salty with anyone who gave me a dirty look.  I would be tempted to say, “Hey, you wanna come over here and scrub the seat and clean up the pee and wash the car seat cover?  That’s what I thought – you pee snob!”

Kids change a person.  Kids change your priorities.  Kids change your heart.
